Stomach ulcers in dogs
Dogs most certainly do suffer from stomach
ulcers. The stress factor in causing stomach ulcers is not as significant as treatments for
arthritis and the use of other anti-inflammatory medications such as aspirin.
These treatments have been linked to stomach ulcers in dogs. About 20% of
adult dogs are affected with osteoarthritis, which makes the management of
musculoskeletal pain a major component of performance dogs and working
dogs along with the companion animal.
These conditions are often treated with Phenylbutazone, Carprofen,
Etodolac and Pentosan 100. These drugs are also used on the performance
animal for lameness, resulting from tissue injury, muscle soreness, bone
and joint problems.
Ranvet is researching stomach ulcers in dogs and we are in the process of
formulating a product similar to our equine
stomach ulcer treatment. |
