For how long do I treat the horse?
To heal gastric ulcers in horses, dose 15ml Ulcerguard three times a day for 21 days.
But you have the task of winning races not healing ulcers, so you might
prefer to treat a horse for a week when he first comes in.
What do I do now, if I've just finished a 21 day treatment?
Give 15ml three times a day, three times a week and 15ml after a
race/competition, simple remember 3x3 3 times a day 3 times a week. The
15ml after a race or competition will help in settling the stomach down
and assists in getting the horse to eat up
If my horse is due back from a spell and has had stomach ulcers in the past, is
he likely to develop ulcers again?
Yes. Within four weeks of resuming training its almost certain he'll have
ulcers but he might not show you any signs. Then as soon as you
start the heavier track work he might go off his feed and you'll battle to
keep the condition on him. Or he'll show no signs at all but begin to fade
over the last 600 metres.
How long will it take before I will see signs of improvement?
Within three days of starting treatment a horse should show signs of
relief from the pain of stomach ulcers. Ulcerguard acts only on the glands that
release acid in the stomach. It doesn't effect any other aspect of the
horse.
Where do I get Ulcerguard?
Ulcerguard is a Prescription Animal Remedy dispensed by your veterinary
surgeon.
What the Trainers say...........
"Thinking about sacking your horse on poor performance? Before
you do, give it a course of Ulcerguard and watch it improve eight
lengths."
Paul Sutherland, Rosehill
"I got a horse that wouldn't eat, looked terrible and was cranky
as all hell. I put it on Ulcerguard and its eating habits, appearance and
appetite all changed. Its now settled into stable life."
Gerald Ryan
"I always knew Corporate Bruce had plenty of ability, but never felt
I had him right. I got him 'scoped to find Grade II ulcers and put him on
Ulcerguard. His coat dappled and he is carrying more condition than he
ever was. His track work is greatly improved and in his two starts this
campaign he has won both of the winter principal sprint races at Belmont
Park. He continues to thrive on a maintenance program."
Hec McClaren, WA
"For one month we had 8 runners with 6 winners after they'd had a
course of Ulcerguard It's the best product I've used in 10 years to get
horses to run to their potential."
Mark Young, Geelong
"You can definitely tell when they're not on it. Ulcerguard should be
standard in every stable."
Paul O'Sullivan, Matamata, NZ
"It turned a barrier rogue - on the point of being barred - into a
winning horse. After Ulcerguard treatment I don't have to work them as
hard."
Paul Mitchell
"It's a great attitude changer. I put the horses on Ulcerguard today
and they lick out the feed tin tomorrow."
Peter Staunton
"Our
horse went from a maiden of 22 starts to winning eight out of its next 16
including the Albury Cup after Ulcerguard treatment".
