In general, the amount of salt that horses receive through their normal forage is too small. The same thing goes for copper, which is important for all animals. Biotin is needed for hide, hair and hoofs. All of these substances exist in relatively small amounts in the normal forage, which is why an extra addition of these substances is recommended.
