Aminovite Plus
Vitamin A
Vitamin A is essential for all growth processes. It is important for
vision and visual pigments within the retina. It is needed for bone
remodelling in growing horses, tendon strength and for healthy skin and
mucus membranes.
A deficiency of Vitamin A can cause poor night vision, breathing
difficulties, loss of appetite, poor conception rates in older mares,
poor growth, reduced tendon strength and leg bone weaknesses. Vitamin A
is not synthesized in the caecum and must be provided in the feed. A 60g
dose of Aminovite Plus provides 12,668 IU of Vitamin A.
Vitamin D
Horses stabled for extended periods, receiving little or no natural
sunlight, require
supplementation with Vitamin D. A deficiency of Vitamin D depresses
Calcium uptake which leads to abnormal gait, stiffness, lameness, weak
bones and swollen joints. A 60g dose of Aminovite Plus provides 1,545 IU
of Vitamin D3.
Vitamin E
Vitamin E is an anti-oxidant and preserves the structural integrity of
the cells. It is used successfully in the treatment of exercise induced
tissue damage and muscle soreness in the high performance horse. Vitamin
E is used to treat and prevent anhidrosis (dry, dull coat in
non-sweating horses). It is also used to treat lowered breeding
performance in both stallions and mares. A 60g dose of Aminovite Plus
provides 306 IU of Vitamin E.
Vitamin B1 (Thiamine)
The major role of Vitamin B1 is in carbo-hydrate metabolism and nerve
transmission. Since carbohydrate metabolism is increased during physical
exertion, it is important that adequate dietary B1 is available to the
high performance horse. Along with work, heavy sweating and growth
increase the need for dietary B1.Unruly stallions and nervous, highly
strung horses have been shown to benefit from a high level intake of
Vitamin B1. Certain plants such as bracken fern and horsetail contain a
thiaminase which can cause a Thiamine deficiency if grazed excessively.
A 60g dose of Aminovite Plus provides 105mg of Thiamine.
Vitamin B2 (Riboflavin)
Riboflavin's role is in carbohydrate metabolism and utilization of feed
intake.
Along with other B Complex Vitamins it is required for growth and by
horses subjected to physical stress. A 60g dose of Aminovite Plus
provides 103mg of Riboflavin.
Vitamin B6 (Pyridoxine)
Pyridoxine, in association with Niacin, is involved in energy production
and blood formation, both important functions in the high performance
horse. A 60g dose of Aminovite Plus provides 62mg of Pyridoxine.
Vitamin B12 (Cyanocobalamin)
Vitamin B12 is important in feed utilization through its involvement in
protein, carbo-hydrate and fat metabolism. In conjunction with Folic
Acid, Vitamin B12 is involved in blood cell production and helps guard
against anaemia. A 60g dose of Aminovite Plus provides 0.42mg of Vitamin
B12.
Niacin (Nicotinic Acid)
The high performance horse has a definite requirement for this
water-soluble Vitamin which is used in the metabolism of carbohydrates,
fats and amino acids to energy. A 60g dose of Aminovite Plus provides
230mg of Niacin.
Pantothenic Acid
Pantothenic Acid is involved in the metabolism of carbohydrates,
proteins and fats to energy. Cereal grains are deficient in this Vitamin
and supplementation is very beneficial to high performance horses being
fed a high grain diet. A 60g of Aminovite Plus provides 3.1mg of
Pantothenic Acid.
Folic Acid
In combination with Vitamin B12, Folic Acid is involved in blood cell
production. It is used to prevent and treat anaemia. A 60g dose of
Aminovite Plus provides 52mg of Folic Acid.
Choline
Choline is essential for building and maintaining cell structures and in
the transmission of nerve impulses. It plays an equally essential role
in fat metabolism in a horse's liver. A 60g dose of Aminovite Plus
provides 220mg of Choline.
Selenium (organic)
In combination with Vitamin E, the trace mineral Selenium acts as an
anti-oxidant to prevent polyunsaturated fatty acid oxidation to toxic
radicals that damage muscle and cell membranes. A deficiency of Selenium
pre-disposes to "tying-up" in high performance horses. A 60g
dose of Aminovite Plus provides 0.27mg of Selenium.
Chromium (organic)
Supplementing the diet with the trace mineral Chromium benefits the high
performance horse in so far as there is less fat to muscle development;
it promotes increased energy metabolism and reduced lactic acid
accumulation during fast work. A 60g dose of Aminovite Plus provides 5mg
of Chromium.
Copper (organic)
Copper is required for bone development, joint cartilage, elastic
connective tissue and the uptake and utilization of iron. Mares' milk is
low in Copper and abnormal bone development can occur in foals when the
diet is Copper deficient. The maximum tolerated level of Copper in
horses is 800mg/kg of diet. A 60g dose of Aminovite Plus provides 30mg
of Copper.
Zinc (organic)
The trace mineral Zinc is necessary for the maintenance and development
of skin and hair. It is essential for the proper formation of bone,
cartilage and hoofs. A 60g dose of Aminovite Plus provides 126mg of
Zinc.
Iodine
Late pregnant mares are very susceptible to Iodine deficiency and the
foals of affected mares are either born dead or too weak to stand and
suck. In mature horses, a deficiency, or excess, of Iodine causes
goitre. A 60g dose of Aminovite Plus provides 0.6mg of Iodine.
Cobalt
Cobalt is involved in the formation of the oxygen carrying protein
component of red blood cells. It is also required for the synthesis of
Vitamin B12 in the intestinal tract. A deficiency of Cobalt and/or
Vitamin B12 will result in anaemia. A 60g dose of Aminovite Plus
provides 1.8mg of Cobalt.
Prokura ® Yeast
Prokura Yeast is a concentrated source of live yeast cells which have a
beneficial effect in assisting and maintaining digestive balance and
function. Supplementation improves nitrogen retention and the quality of
protein consumed. These live yeast cells also suppress such harmful
bacteria as E.coli, Clostridium and Salmonellas which cause digestive
upsets and diarrhoea.
Daily supplementation with Ranvet
Aminovite Plus provides additional Vitamins and trace minerals to help
meet the increased demands on mature horses in training and racing. The
10 different Vitamins enriched with complexed organic Chromium, Copper,
Selenium and Zinc help meet the increased nutritional requirements of
pregnant and lactating mares, support rapid growth in young horses and
to help overcome the stress of infection.
Administration: Mix
the prescribed dose through a dry feed. It is recommended that the
prescribed dose be spread over two feeds. Bring horses onto full dose
gradually.
Note: as Aminovite Plus contains Copper, care should be taken
when administering to horses whose diet is Copper sufficient. The
maximum tolerated level in horses is 800mg/kg of the diet. A measure is
provided.
One level measure holds 30g
