horse worms

Kill the eggs and you kill the worms!

To win the battle against worms in horses you must first kill their eggs! A foal is born free of worms, but unfortunately that freedom is very short-lived. They first become infected when they sniff around droppings or when they nibble at the grass, ingesting live eggs or larvae which have hatched.

The degree of exposure and subsequent level of infection depends largely on the type of drench you use and on the degree of pasture contamination.

Pasture contamination can be massive!

A single female roundworm can lay up to 200,000 eggs a day. Pinworms and redworms are also prodigious egg-layers. One mare with a worm burden can void over two million eggs a day!

In the breeding season the problem can increase, as the egg output from any infected mare increases dramatically after she foals. With all these millions of eggs being voided in the droppings each day, it is easy to see how a foal's exposure to internal parasites is basically inevitable.

Kill the eggs before they hatch.

Because of the insidious and continuous nature of worm infections, your control programme should focus on killing the eggs before they hatch, and this is where Ranvet's Anthelcide-Eq plays its vital role.

Anthelcide-Eq has a powerful ovicidal action which kills worm eggs. It is the ideal stud drench.

Ranvet's Anthelcide is available in 200ml, 1ltr or 10 litre bottles. Shake container prior to use.
